The Fencing Without Barriers project emerges from a critical need to address the barriers faced byindividuals with disabilities, particularly in the realm of sports participation. The European Union (EU)has prioritised inclusion and equal opportunities for people with disabilities through various policies,such as the Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities 2021-2030, which emphasises equal access and non-discrimination of individuals with disabilities, supporting their right to equal opportunities in and access to sport, since accessible and inclusive sport activities are vital for their full participation in society.
